During the three-hour school period each Sunday, children engage in a variety of enriching classes:
Rikuz: This meeting of all students in grade 1 and up delves into Israeli culture, people, places, and issues of national importance. The session concludes with the singing of Israeli songs and “HaTikvah.”
Hebrew: Students are grouped based on their age and Hebrew proficiency. They work on developing their Hebrew skills in reading, writing, listening, and conversation through interactive classes and small group activities.
Jewish Heritage: Students explore traditional stories from the Torah, learn about Jewish and Israeli holidays, and experience the value of doing mitzvot through hands-on activities and engaging lessons.
Enrichment: Art, music, cooking, and sports activities round out the day, providing students with a well-rounded educational experience.
Additionally, Maccabim offers a young leadership program and a bar/bat mitzvah program for teenagers, celebrating these significant milestones with our families. As a community school, we also emphasize the importance of giving back. Our students volunteer at local Jewish organizations that serve families in need and participate in significant events such as the Israeli consulate’s Yom HaZicharon ceremony.
